Abstract |
Biosorption experiments for zinc (Zn+2)
and cadmium (Cd+2) were investigated in
this study using living and lyophelized biomass of a
bacterial strain isolated from waste water of
Rawafeih Al-Kusairdrainat,
Sohag governorate in Egypt. It was identified as
Klebsiella pneumonia KM609983. The experimental
adsorption data were fitted towards the models
postulated by Langmuir and Freundlich isotherms
equations. The maximum biosorption capacities for
zinc and cadmium obtained by using lyophelized and
living cells were 243.9
and 227.3mg/g,
respectively, indicating higher efficiency of
lyophilized cells to heavy metals compared to living
cells.
